Hello. I’m Kate. I am a writer and illustrator.

I like big, bold colours and shapes and my favourite: stripes. However, I am a firm believer in less is more; you can tell I’m a Gemini. Is there such a thing as ‘colourful minimalism’? My hero is Charles Schulz, creator of Snoopy and Peanuts. I adore Keith Haring’s art too. It must be said (must it?) that I am a handwriting geek.

In terms of my writing for children, I am serious about being silly. I love sparking joy, playfulness and lots of laughter with my work. I would very much like to be the literary antidote to the intensity of the school curriculum.

I’m also very interested in mental health and how we can take care of ourselves in simple but often overlooked ways. We have the power within us to transform our worlds. I hope my words and pictures raise a smile or at least shed a little light in the darkness.
